Personally, Doug is the author of two books on the American Revolution, “A Glimpse of Freedom” and “Absolved From Allegiance”, and is an Adjunct Instructor of American History at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. He is the first Yemeni-American to attain the rank of police captain in the New York City Police Department. Altaheri served as the Executive Officer of the 20th precinct in the upper west side of Manhattan and the executive officer of East Harlem's 23rd precinct in Manhattan. Captain Altaheri is the Co-founder of the NYPD Muslim Officers Society and founder of the Yemeni American Law Enforcement Officers Association (YAELOA).
